Mini Moments #1 – Let’s Catch Up
Welcome to Mini Moments, a gentle little series where I collect the small joys, quiet wins, and everyday sparks that make life feel soft, dreamy, and worth slowing down for. It’s my way of noticing the good—even when life feels messy, busy, or in-between.
Hi, friend! Whether we’ve met before or you’re new to Ditching the Daydream, I’m so glad you’re here!
I’ve been craving a way to write that feels like a return to old-school blogging—less filtered and less structured. I want a space to share life as it unfolds rather than once it’s neatly wrapped up.
That’s what this series is about: a collection of quiet wins, cozy rituals, and the tiny moments I want to remember. So let’s dive into the very first edition of Mini Moments, shall we?

Let’s Catch Up
If we haven’t met yet, hi, I’m Kelsey! I’m a part-time blogger balancing a full-time job outside this space. I am also a 2025 bride getting married in less than four months (September 26!).
And if I’m being honest? I’m burnt out.
Not “on the edge of burnout”—I’m talking full-blown, deep-in-the-weeds burnout—the kind where rest feels more like getting by than restoration. Due to some health issues and a lot of work stress on top of wedding planning chaos, I’ve been living in survival mode for a couple of months. Eating whatever gets delivered fastest from DoorDash. Skipping workouts. Letting blog posts live half-finished in my head.
It’s certainly not the engagement season I imagined. Or the fresh start to my blog, I hoped for when I re-launched the site at the end of March.
But things are shifting—and I’m finally feeling ready for something new.
It’s the start of a new month, and I’m craving a clean slate. On June 16, I’ll be starting a new job (which is both exciting and a little scary). And between now and then, I’m giving myself a real pause. A break. A chance to reset and breathe before stepping into what’s next.
That starts TODAY with a week off work. I am traveling around Chicago and Indiana with my fiancé, Trey, this week. He’s traveling for work, and I’m tagging along to explore, recharge, and enjoy some unhurried days.
In Case You Missed It:
Mini-Moments
Little things making life better lately:
- Reading for fun again and not overthinking my book choices or reading pace.
- Fresh nails for this trip! It’s amazing what a little polish can do – I always feel so put together with my nails done, especially with a pretty manicure.
- Getting back to blogging without giving in to the pressure to be perfectly polished or strategic with what I write and post.
- My inflatable tanning pool — a budget-friendly summer indulgence I didn’t know I needed until I kept seeing them all over Instagram. It felt a little silly when setting it up, but I’m excited to have a simple setup with this pool to enjoy the outdoors in the backyard, read, and stay cool this summer.
- My new Garmin watch, which is motivating me to move more, has me happily keeping track of my daily steps again. I will do a full review once I’ve had more time with it.
What I’m Reading / Watching / Listening To
Reading:
- Every Summer After by Carley Fortune: I originally read this book the summer it was released and had to do a re-read before picking up Carley’s latest book, One Golden Summer, which features the main characters from this book years after the end of this story.
- One Golden Summer by Carley Fortune: I am almost done with this one and don’t want it to end. I’ve loved the appearances of familiar favorite characters, and everything about it is giving me total summer vacation vibes.
Watching:
- 1883: After watching and enjoying Landman together, Trey and I decided to check out more shows by Taylor Sheridan, starting with this prequel to Yellowstone. This show is so well done, but every episode stresses me out, and I’m always ready to turn to something more lighthearted after watching this.
- Stick: This was Trey’s pick, but we are three episodes in and I’m excited for the next episode to drop. So far this show is a good mix of comedy, drama, and of course -golf.
Listening To:
- Every Taylor Swift album guilt-free (because she owns them all again, and they are all Taylor’s Version now!).
- The Squeeze Podcast: I occasionally listen to podcasts to break up my work commute, and I am loving this podcast for thoughtful, calming content.
Looking Ahead
I’m craving more calm, more creativity, and more memorable moments with family and friends.
This next week is about soaking in inspiration, finding small joys, and gently returning to the version of me who felt excited to create and connect.
There’s a lot to look forward to—from wedding plans to new routines to finally writing again.
I’m so grateful to be getting this time off and look forward to sharing a recap soon!
